Hamburg Foundation for Politically Persecuted People

The program is dedicated to Human Rights Defenders who are threatened because of his or her political belief and are in urgent need of temporary shelter due to their public commitment to defend and restore human rights in their country. The Foundation offers 12 months short term shelter in Hamburg. It is not a refugee program and won’t offer shelter solutions for a longer perspective. The applicant should describe his/her persecution in detail, add a CV and reference letter. In view of this, the Foundation grants: - Up to five scholarships each year to politically persecuted persons, no matter their country of origin, profession or creed. - The duration of this scholarship is limited to one year - The scholarship includes living costs, travel costs, health care insurance and the rent of a well equipped apartment. - The scholarshipholder has to be willing and able to return.
