People in Need is a Czech non-governmental, non-profit organization active all over the world. It is made up of 5 departments with different mandates: 1. The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (HRD), which delivers human rights programming 2. The Relief and Development Department (RDD), which delivers international humanitarian aid and development programming 3. Social Work and Educational Programmes, which delivers social work and counselling in in the Czech Republic 4. One World Film Festival, which delivers PIN’s international human rights film festival 5. One World in Schools, which uses films to deliver educational programming in Czech schools People in Need’s Centre for Human Rights and Democracy’s (HRD) mission is to support Civil Society Actors in all their forms – individuals, grassroots initiatives, informal movements and formal established civil society organizations (CSOs), independent media and journalists – in their efforts to defend freedom and human rights.
